Proposed NYLA Bylaws Change

NYLA is posting/distributing the proposed change to the NYLA Bylaws for member review. The wording for the bylaws update was recommended by the Governance Committee and approved by our lawyer. The only change is as follows highlighted in yellow:

“Section 4. Annual Meeting. An annual meeting of the voting members shall be held at a time determined by the Council. The meeting may be held in an in-person, virtual, or hybrid mode as determined by the Council and announced in advance. Any resolutions that will be introduced at the Annual Meeting shall be submitted to the Executive Director and NYLA Council at least 30 days in advance of the Annual Meeting for review and comment.”

The NYLA Council voted to approve that change at the November 5, 2025 Council Meeting at conference. Now that the Council has approved the change, NYLA is posting the revised version of the bylaws on our website and sending out eblasts to membership. It will be posted for at least 30 days for their review, and then we will hold an electronic vote by membership on approving the revision.
