Purpose
To encourage future librarians to attend NYLA’s Annual Conference by providing a stipend to up to 4 library school student recipients who have not been to the NYLA Conference before.
Criteria

Each dean will be responsible for disseminating the information of the award application to their respective School of Information Science and NYLA will also advertise via our communication channels.

Students who apply must be attending the NYLA Annual Conference for the first time.
Application Requirements

Professional Experience - Account for all of your professional experience (Teaching, research, professional, business, military, internship, etc.) since graduation from high school up to the present. Do not include time spent in school.

Memberships and Professional Honors - List all memberships in professional and other organizations, honor societies, scholarships, prizes, etc.

Continuing Education / Community Service / Extracurricular Activities - Give a brief description, with dates.

Essay - Write an essay (maximum 300 words) explaining your professional goals in attending library school and becoming a professional librarian. This essay must be typed and submitted with your application in the field provided.
Recognition

Stipend includes registration to all non-ticketed events and up to $500 for travel and lodging as well as a one-year NYLA student membership.

Recipients will be acknowledged on NYLA's website and at the Annual Conference.
